Children’s Book Review: Cloaked by Alex Flinn, HarperTeen, $ (p) ISBN
I liked Johnny I guess, although to me he was a bit boring, as was Meg. Alex Flinn is a girl, I mean a woman!
Which is great because a she’s this Paris Hilton lookalike which I guess is appealing to men these days and b Johnny and his mom are trapped in a life of poverty and said marriage would solve all his financial woes.
This would totally change my perspective in reading hisI mean her books. The prince and princess spoke in the most annoying accent where every other word started with the letter z.

She is smart, sassy and practical. My plan is to use it to catalog all the books I’ve read insince one of my goals for this year was to read books. I never really liked his character. But this novel has way too many plot holes and “happy” coincidences. Right now, I live half a mile away from my old middle school, in Palmetto Bay, a suburb of Miami, with my husband, daughters, aoex, and cats.
Normally, Alex Flinn writes about the princess falling in love and the inclusion of another girl is to make us readers hate her. That was also when I learned to be a keen cloakde. About halfway through I was thinking it would be a 3-star rating.

The character I had the most difficulty believing in was the villain, who definitely seemed out of a Disney film in the sense that she was evil without any real motive. Admittedly I’m not a big YA reader.

It’s meant to be light and fluffy and fun. While I’m not sure she’s really the author for me specifically, I have a TON of fun reading her retellings and diving into the worlds she goes to such great lengths to cultivate and create.
